What to Expect
A typical year in scouting involves a variety of activities. Weekly meetings year round focus on upcoming events requiring special training. At these meetings Scouts work on the skills needed for the upcoming events and occasionally Merit Badge workshops are included, such as, citizenship and flag, knots, safety, first aid, communications, cooking skills and other things found in the Scout Handbook. Some Troop meetings are designated as "Fun Nights"
although all nights are fun. The activities are varied and initiated by the Scouts. We are limited to approved Scout activities.
"Green Bar" is the Patrol Leaders' Council. Green Bar takes place instead of the regular Monday evening meeting. The Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol Leaders and elected officers meet with the Scoutmaster in order to plan and organize the upcoming Troop activities. All Scouts are encouraged to participate in Green Bars; however, the Troop leadership will make decisions. The name Green Bar comes from the two green bars found on the Patrol Leaders' patch.
