Operation Santa Toy Drive for the Underserved Children in Pasadena

The scouts of Troop 103 reached out to the underserved children in Pasadena through the Operation Santa Toy Drive. At the Christmas party, our troop collected some unwrapped new toys. On December 23, Scouts Frank and Jeffrey handed the donated toys to the Coordinator of Operation Santa at the Scottish Rite Temple. The generous gifts were listed below:

In addition to delivering the new toys, Frank and Jeffrey also donated their time. On that day, they helped unload a variety of toys from the vehicles and then sorted them to the proper sections. This is another great example of Troop 103’s boy scouts living out the Scout’s oath- serving the community!

Operation Santa is the Pasadena Jaycee’s longest running community service project. Since 1934, Pasadena Jaycee’s has been collecting letters to Santa Claus written by children in Pasadena and the surrounding areas. Those letters are read, toy drives are initiated, funds are raised, and homes are mapped out. On Christmas Eve, Santa and Mrs. Claus visit the homes of 3,500 children with gifts in hand.

Giving back to the community is one of the important character-building processes for boy scouts. Boy Scout Frank and Jeffrey have committed to lead a Children Program at an Arcadia church every other Friday night. They will be teaching and leading various activities such as helping young children reading music notes and playing music instruments. Want to see how much fun they have had?
